Suni Lee is making her return.

The 23-year-old Olympic gold medalist announced she’s returning to gymnastics on Tuesday, July 14 in a video on Instagram captioned, “I’m back 🎬.”

Lee is seen walking around a gym in the first shots of the video before she says, “I know what I’m capable of” in a voiceover as clips of her competing over the years played.

“I’m willing to do whatever it takes to get there,” Lee added. The gymnast also said it was “crazy” to be “back in the gym” in the announcement video, which teased something “more than a comeback” at the end.

“This is more than a comeback, stay tuned,” the final screen read.

After she helped Team USA win gold in the 2024 Paris Olympics, Lee — who was diagnosed with an incurable kidney disease in 2023 — took a break from gymnastics, but her return means she’s likely hoping to compete in the 2028 Los Angeles Games.

She described the Paris Games as her “redemption tour” in an interview with PEOPLE after securing another gold medal and two bronze. “This has been my redemption tour from the last Olympics, and I’ve been trying to give myself grace for not being, I guess fully back to normal Suni. But ever since I got sick, I feel like normal Suni is — she’s just a different girl now.”

Just after competing in Paris, Lee told PEOPLE she was still adjusting to life without gymnastics. “I’m just living my life. I’ve never really been without gymnastics, so this is completely brand new to me, and I’m still figuring out a routine and learning all the places, but it’s been really fun,” she said in October 2024.

Now, Lee will be back on the mat exactly two years before the start of the L.A. Games.
