Former Sinton standout Blake Mitchell has been selected to play in the 2026 MLB All-Star Futures Game.
Mitchell, a catcher in the Kansas City Royals organization, will represent the American League in the annual showcase of baseball’s top prospects on Sunday, July 12 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
Mitchell, the 2023 Caller-Times All-South Texas Baseball MVP, was the No. 8 overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft.
In fact, Mitchell was the highest-drafted Texas high school player that year and the first catcher selected.
Mitchell has rebounded in 2026 after suffering a hamate bone injury last year. He is currently hitting .210 with 40 RBIs, 13 home runs and 16 stolen bases in 68 games for High-A Quad Cities.
