Sean Payton cancels final day of Broncos minicamp

The Denver Broncos were originally scheduled to continue mandatory minicamp until Thursday, but head coach Sean Payton decided to end the offseason program after Wednesday.

“Just schedule-wise, today will be our last day,” said Payton to the media after Wednesday’s practice. “I just finished telling them that. It’s unusual because there’s a lot of packing, a little bit more than normal when you’re moving into another facility. So when we’re back here, we’ll be in the new building.”

Moving into the new Broncos Park facility isn’t the only reason Payton ended the offseason activities early. He is extremely pleased with the pace the team has learned the installation of the offensive and defensive schemes. “I like where we’re at relative to the installation,” Payton said. “as we’re rotating a lot of guys in, there are a number of times where in training camp we’re going to repeat something and maybe because of a time constraint here we’re going to get on to the next play. I think all of us are anxious to get to where we’re in pads and you’re going to be able to get a better evaluation.”

Denver now has a month-long layover to prepare for training camp, where they will be able to strap on the pads and find out where the state of the team lies in leading into the 2026 season.
