Michael Vick may have last played in the NFL in 2015, but the former Pro Bowl quarterback continues to receive significant financial support from the league thanks to the benefits available to retired players.
During a recent interview, Vick revealed that he receives an annual payment exceeding six figures and expects to continue receiving those benefits for the rest of his life. He also noted that he qualifies for disability benefits related to injuries suffered during his playing career.
“Yeah. Every year. Annual, for the rest of your life,” Vick said. “Got a disability too, broken ankle, surgery.”
When asked if the annual payment exceeds six figures, Vick responded simply, “Yeah.”
The former Atlanta Falcons star credited the NFL’s retirement and financial programs for helping players establish long-term financial security, emphasizing that the resources are available for those willing to take advantage of them.

“The league provides us with opportunities to make sure financial longevity is in place for us, if you want it,” Vick explained. “Now I’ve seen a lot of guys who didn’t want it, who didn’t pay attention.”
Vick said he made a conscious effort to understand the league’s retirement plans, investment opportunities and matching contributions while he was still playing. That preparation has provided him with peace of mind years after his career ended.
“I knew about it, invest this, they match that, get it here, get it there,” Vick said. “I can cover myself if I blow everything.”
