José Mourinho reportedly wants former Germany midfielder Sami Khedira in his coaching staff in his return to Real Madrid.
The Athletic portal and Spanish sports daily AS said that talks have been held about a role of assistant coach and that the 39-year-old Khedira was considering the matter.
Mourinho brought Khedira to Real during his first term until 2013. The 2014 World Cup winner Khedira played at the club until 2015.
Khedira, who ended his playing career in 2021, has never worked as a coach.
Former Real defender Pepe has also been linked with a coaching job under Portuguese compatriot Mourinho. But the former defender named this speculation in social media and that he has not talked about it with Mourinho.
Pepe, 43, wouldn’t rule out a return to Real but that it was not an issue at the moment.
