Doing their offseason chores early, the Oklahoma City Thunder crossed off another small-potatoes move on Monday. They have reportedly tendered a two-way qualifying offer to Brooks Barnhizer, per NBA cap expert Keith Smith. He will be a restricted free agent this offseason.

This is a little surprising, if I’m being honest. Barnhizer didn’t really show much in his rookie season last year. He averaged just 1.7 points and two rebounds in 40 games. The 24-year-old spent most of the year on the G League’s OKC Blue. He was the No. 44 pick of the 2025 NBA draft.

Now, it looks like Barnhizer will likely return for a second year and occupy one of OKC’s three two-way spots. As a reminder, a two-way qualifying offer means they’re on a standing one-year contract extension — pending another team signing him to an offer sheet.

Odds are, though, the Thunder will get Barnhizer back on a two-way deal. He joins undrafted rookie Josh Dix among the trio. And odds are, Otega Oweh could slot into the third spot. He was taken with the No. 41 pick of the 2026 NBA draft.

As a reminder, two-way players are allowed to be active for 50 NBA games. They usually spend most of the year in the G League. Of course, they can eventually get converted to a standard deal as long as there is a 15-player roster spot open.
