Bill Simmons said in late May that he “didn’t think” the Boston Celtics were “in on” the sweepstakes for a possible trade to acquire Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokokunmpo.
Then on Thursday, the longtime Boston media member changed his tune.
Simmons discussed the topic again on Saturday night with NBA insider Zach Lowe and claimed that the Celtics recently made an offer to the Bucks to land the two-time MVP.
“You have talked about it,” Lowe said. “I would definitely watch Boston diving in. Not just dipping their toe in, but diving in.”
“I think they dove in,” Simmons answered. “From what I heard, they made an offer in the past week, a couple days before I mentioned it on Thursday. I don’t know what the offer was or who was in it, but hat was in the ring, which I was really surprised by as I said on Thursday, because I thought they were sitting it out.”
Boston has been linked to Antetokounmpo in trade rumors for months, with All-Star guard Jaylen Brown often being involved in the chatter.
With the NBA Finals concluding on Saturday night, the Antetokounmpo trade talk may be reaching its peak soon.
