Leading figures at both of Spanish football’s leading clubs have been included amongst the nominees for the Goal of the Tournament award at this summer’s World Cup.
This of course comes fresh off the tournament being brought to a close on Sunday night.
When all was said and done in North America, it was the Spanish national team who reigned supreme, too much for then-champions Argentina in the showpiece clash.
Barcelona star Ferran Torres notched the game’s decisive goal deep into extra-time, and has secured a nomination for Goal of the Tournament as a result.
Elsewhere, Blaugrana icon Lionel Messi is also in the running, for his moment of group stage quality against Algeria.
Turning focus towards Real Madrid, and Los Blancos’ two star performers at the World Cup are up for best goal, too. Kylian Mbappé makes the shortlist for his group stage strike versus Senegal, whilst Jude Bellingham is in contention for his endeavours against France in the 3rd-place playoff.
