Phoenix Suns trade into 1st round, land Arizona star Koa Peat

The Phoenix Suns are landing Arizona freshman Koa Peat by trading into the first round of the 2026 NBA Draft, a league source confirmed to The Arizona Republic.
This concludes a sequence of trades that began with the New York Knicks moving Sergio De Larrea, the 25th overall pick in the draft, to the Dallas Mavericks for Peat, ESPN’s Shams Charania tweeted.
Then the Knicks traded Peat to the Phoenix Suns for three second-round selections, with one being the 47th pick in the 2026 draft and cash, Charania tweeted.
The Suns had the option to trade two first-round picks (2027 and 2023) on draft night, but didn’t have to and wound up getting a first-round selection.
A 6-7 forward from Chandler, Peat averaged 14.1 points in helping Arizona reach the 2026 Final Four in his one-and-done season.
