Phenix City walks off Pennsylvania to advance in Little League World Series
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (WRBL) – With their backs against the wall, the Phenix City All-Stars have refused to quit.
Representing the Southeast Region, Phenix City erased a five-run deficit and capped off the comeback with a walk-off RBI single by Brooks Cameron to defeat West Chester, PA 6-5 to stay alive in the Little League World Series.
After falling behind 5-0 in the 3rd inning, Phenix City came back to tie the game thanks to RBI singles from Cooper Champion, Easton Allen and Kinley Rasmus. Rasmus was also impressive on the mound. Coming on as a relief pitcher, she tossed 4 2/3 innings, only allowing two hits while striking out six.
With the win, Phenix City moves on in the elimination bracket. They will play Tacoma, WA on Tuesday afternoon at 3pm ET. The two teams have already met once in this tournament, with Tacoma winning 2-0 in seven innings on August 19th.
