Pat Murphy won't be making pitching changes as he deals with hip pain

Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy was back in the dugout for his team’s June 14 game against the Philadelphia Phillies after leaving the stadium to get an MRI hours prior.

Murphy received imaging on his right hip, which has been causing increased pain as the season has gone on.

Most recently, Murphy notably didn’t go to the mound for any pitching changes in the game the night before, June 13.

Murphy, 67, arrived at American Family Field the morning of June 14 ahead of the Brewers series finale but departed roughly three hours prior to first pitch when the pain was too severe.

He told MLB.com he is scheduled for hip replacement surgery over All-Star break.

Don’t expect the two-time National League manager of the year to be getting up for pitching changes or high-fives; he was seated on the bench next to Christian Yelich and some staff members during the first inning June 14.

Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy (49) is shown during the first inning of their game against the San Francisco Giants Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
