The San Diego Padres signed an outfielder with 38 games of Major League experience last week.

According to Anthony Franco of MLB Trade Rumors, the NL West club agreed to a minor league deal with Dustin Harris.

Harris opted out of his contract with the Chicago White Sox recently.

He’s played 17 games this season, split between the White Sox and Houston Astros. Harris managed to record 10 hits in 52 trips to the plate and stole four bases without being caught.

“The Padres don’t have any depth outfielders on optional assignment to El Paso, while Jase Bowen is the only true backup outfielder on the big league club,” Franco wrote.

“That makes this a good landing spot for Harris, who joins Nick Solak and Bryce Johnson among the non-roster depth options.”

Harris, 27, has had a strong year at Triple-A.

In 187 plate appearances, he’s hit .306/.392/.481 with six home runs. The Padres will be his third club of the season if he makes it into a big league game.

The Athletics selected him in the 11th round of the 2019 MLB Draft.
