Ohtani Returns to Lineup as Dodgers Look for 4-Game Sweep

The Los Angeles Dodgers brought Shohei Ohtani back into their lineup for the final game of a four-game set against the San Diego Padres.
Ohtani missed Saturday’s game as he dealt with some tightness in his right bicep, which he felt during his start on Friday. Manager Dave Roberts revealed if things continued trending well, Ohtani would return for the final game of the series.
Who is Starting for the Dodgers?
Emmet Sheehan starts for LA on Sunday, and will look to build off of a solid start against the Padres last week. The right-hander threw five innings of one run baseball a week ago, allowing just one hit through. He also struck out five batters.
On the year, Sheehan has a 5.08 ERA through 72.2 innings pitched, and has struck out 81 batters.
Who is in the Dodgers’ Lineup?
Ohtani will lead the line with his return, followed by center fielder Andy Pages. First baseman Freddie Freeman rounds out the trio of All-Star starters at the top of the lineup, and shortstop Mookie Betts will bat cleanup. Tommy Edman moved up to fifth and will play third base, followed by left fielder Teoscar Hernandez.
Miguel Rojas steps in to play second base and bat seventh, and Alex Call also slots into the lineup in right field to bat eighth. Lastly, Catcher Eliezer Alfonzo rounds out the lineup as he makes his MLB debut.

Who is starting for the Padres?
Left-hander JP Sears starts for the Padres, and the Dodgers will look to make the most of their opportunity against the southpaw. Sears has a rather poor record against the Dodgers through his one start against them, allowing six hits in 20 trips, and has been subpar this season so far.
Through his two outings in 2026, Sears has a 6.97 ERA with nine strikeouts in 10.1 innings pitched.
