“Of Course” Chiefs Bring In NFL Star With Aggravated Assault Charge (Breaking)

The Kanas City Chiefs are coming off their worst season ever in the Andy Reid-Patrick Mahomes era.  While injuries certainly played a role, the team looked like a shell of their former selves for most of the year.  At the end, Mahomes would go down with an ACL tear late in the year against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Going into 2026 the team is motivated to get back to their winning ways.  Apparently, that could mean signing someone with a checkered past.  Here are the details.

Chiefs Bring In Questionable Star For Workout

The Chiefs are in need of cornerback help as the NFL season approaches, and they are now looking into a reunion with a former key cog in two Super Bowl victories who later encountered some legal difficulties.

ESPN reports that veteran cornerback L’Jarius Sneed will visit the Chiefs on Thursday.

In 2024, Sneed was traded to the Tennessee Titans for a seventh-round pick, and this off-season he was released by the team. He spent four years with Kansas City before being traded.  During his time with the Titans, he encountered legal difficulties.  In 2024, Sneed was charged with aggravated assault following a shooting at a Texas automobile dealership.

It was subsequently dropped to a misdemeanor, and then entirely dropped in May of this year.   After the 2023 season, Sneed was not interested in leaving the Chiefs:

“Yeah, man, I didn’t talk to them. I was upset, man,” he said at the time. “I was upset, you know, Kansas City, that’s like my first love. They showed me the way, showed me how to be a champion, gave me two rings. You know I was bitter. I was angry because I wanted to stay in that environment around everybody who I was used to. But it’s God’s plan.”

During his six years in the league (4 with Kansas City, 2 with Tennessee), Sneed accumulated the following stats:

  • 69 career games
  • 66 total starts
  • 10 interceptions
  • 43 pass deflections
  • 4 forced fumbles
  • 3 fumble recoveries
  • 6.5 career sacks
  • 352 total tackles
  • 260 solo tackles
  • 21 tackles for loss

Playoff Stats:

  • 13 career games
  • 13 total starts
  • 1 interception
  • 7 pass deflections
  • 1 forced fumble
  • 75 total tackles
  • 53 solo tackles

Fans immediately reacted to this possible reunion:

  • Sneed coming back to KC would be the ultimate redemption arc. the chiefs said “we made a mistake” and he’s probably thinking about it hard right now. that’s the vibe.
  • Ofc they bring back a criminal
  • A return makes perfect sense for KC. Sneed already knows Spags’ system inside out, and the Chiefs’ secondary would instantly get a massive boost. If the money works, it’s a no brainer for a championship defense.
  • Sneed left KC, got paid by Tennessee, got cut, now back in Arrowhead for a visit. The NFL’s version of breaking up and getting back together.
  • Kansas City trading him away just to bring him back later is the NFL version of breaking up and texting “wyd” six months later
