NEW YORK – Saturday is about the Mets’ past.
Many of the club’s legends will descend on Citi Field as they celebrate the 40th anniversary of the team’s 1986 World Series crown.
A ceremony will be held before the start of the Mets’ 4:10 p.m. contest against the Marlins.
The Mets will be wearing their iconic blue-and-white, racing-stripe jerseys for the game.
It will present a stark contrast to the current iteration of the Mets, who dropped Friday’s game, 5-2 to fall to 47-64 on the season.
The Mets were pressed into action, scratching Freddy Peralta from his start and abruptly throwing Kodai Senga in the loss.
The Mets’ offense was limited to an RBI single from A.J. Ewing and solo home run from Francisco Lindor.
