Notre Dame football grabs another 2027 defensive line commitment

SOUTH BEND —Notre Dame football keeps reeling in high-end prospects for defensive line guru Charlie Partridge.
The latest non-binding commitment came on Tuesday, June 16, when defensive end Abraham Sesay of Exton, Penn., picked the Irish over LSU, Duke and Florida State.
Rated as high as a five-star prospect by some outlets, Sesay amassed 13 sacks last season for Downington East High School in the suburbs west of Philadelphia. Listed at 6-foot-5 and 225 pounds, Sesay also plays some tight end for the Cougars as well as basketball and track participation.
Downington East went 8-4 last season, giving up 30-plus points in two of those losses.
The 18th pledge thus far in the Notre Dame’s 2027 recruiting class, Sesay is rated No. 47 nationally by 247Sports Composite and seventh among edge rushers.
His announcement comes almost exactly one month after five-star defensive tackle David Folorunsho of Chicago’s St. Patrick High School gave his pledge to the Irish. At 6-3 and 280 pounds, Folorunsho is rated No. 27 nationally by 247Sports Composite and third among defensive linemen.
Notre Dame’s fourth-ranked 2027 class previously reeled in four-star defensive ends Aidan O’Neil (Don Bosco Prep) and Jackson Vaughn (Bergen Catholic) from the New Jersey circuit.
They join Wisconsin defensive lineman Richie Flanigan, son of former Irish defensive star Jim Flanigan and younger brother of sophomore tight end James Flanigan, in the 2027 class.

Partridge, who spent the past two seasons coaching defensive linemen for the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts, previously worked at the University of Pittsburgh from 2017-23.
Brassir Stocker, a cornerback, signed with the Panthers out of Downington East in the 2018 recruiting class. Stocker later entered the transfer portal.
Tyler Kroft, who played tight end for nine seasons in the NFL (2015-23), is the most accomplished football product of Downington East to date. Kroft played his college ball at Rutgers.
The early signing period for football is expected to fall again in early December.
