Boston Red Sox fans may get a kick out of hearing a Cleveland Guardians broadcaster mock a New York Yankees player.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. appeared Monday on NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” During the late-night interview, the All-Star second baseman declared that the Yankees will “for sure” win this year’s World Series.
Tom Hamilton mentioned Chisholm’s bold prediction while calling Tuesday’s 9-4 Guardians win over the Yankees. A social media user shared a clip of the Hall of Fame radio announcer taking a shot at the 28-year-old.
“He predicted the Yankees will win the World Series. He did that on the Jimmy Fallon show,” Hamilton said of Chisholm. “Pretty amazing he got on the Jimmy Fallon show batting .239.”

Chisholm is indeed batting a pedestrian .239/.313/.383 with six home runs and a below-average 98 weighted runs created plus (wRC+), his lowest rate since 2021.
That production seemingly doesn’t warrant a TV spotlight, especially since the Yankees have several other flourishing stars such as Aaron Judge, Ben Rice, Cody Bellinger and Cam Schlittler. There’s also the matter of Fallon promoting Boston’s arch-nemesis after portraying a die-hard Red Sox in “Fever Pitch.”
In Chisholm’s defense, he’s coming off a Silver Slugger season with 31 home runs and 31 stolen bases. He posted an .813 OPS despite batting .242, so batting average is only one piece of the puzzle.
Still, Chisholm had to prepare for such pushback after making a boisterous proclamation. The Yankees have the American League’s best run differential (+93) but trail the Tampa Bay Rays by one game for the AL East lead.
