New details emerge in the death of Aldon Smith

The tragic passing of Aldon Smith is starting to come into focus as details are emerging of his last hours.

According to a report by the San Francisco Chronicle, Smith was found by his friend Amir Shirazi in his truck. Shirazi thought that Smith was sleeping.

But then Shirazi attempted to resuscitate him, as well as former 49ers running back Antonio Dixon, who assisted with CPR. Shirazi then called 911, but it was too late.

“We were joking about life and talking about stuff right before,” Shirazi told the Chronicle.

Smith was declared dead an hour later in Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, per the report.

Just a few hours before his death, Smith was delivering pizza to the homeless.

Smith and Shirazi delivered pizzas to Scott Wagers, the co-founder of CHAM Deliverance Ministry, a charity that feeds the homeless.

“He got out of the car, and he looked maybe kind of tired,” Wagers told the Chronicle, “but he’s a giant man. I’m like, ‘Hey man, are you good? Are you good’’ and I said, ‘Can I take some pictures?’ So we took some pictures, we got the pizzas with my team, and we went and took all the pizza out there.”

Despite this new information on the last few hours of his life, a cause of death has still not been released by Smith’s family.
