Nebraska legend announces return to professional volleyball for 2027

A former Husker announced on Friday that she is continuing her professional volleyball career. Jordan Larson revealed on social media that she is returning to play for LOVB Nebraska for the 2027 season.

The announcement comes after Larson initially announced her retirement ahead of the 2026 season back in January and played her final match in early April. She also had her LOVB Nebraska jersey retired, making her the first player to have the honor. Now, Larson is planning to enter her third season with LOVB Nebraska while continuing her role as the team’s co-owner.

Last season, she finished in the top six in League One Volleyball across three categories. She placed fifth in kills, totaling 234, sixth in points, earning 267, and fourth in aces, claiming a team-high. Larson’s play also won her the 2026 LOVB Best Outside Hitter and a spot on the league’s Icons First Team.

Larson’s announcement means her long, outstanding volleyball career continues, now spanning over 20 years. At Nebraska, she guided the Huskers to the 2006 national championship and finished her collegiate career as a three-time All-American. Her No. 10 jersey was retired in 2017 and she was then inducted into the Nebraska Athletics Hall of Fame in 2020.

Away from Lincoln, Larson is also a four-time Olympic medalist and was the first to achieve the mark. She helped the USA claim gold at the Tokyo Olympics and was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player and Best Outside Hitter. She also guided the team to silver in London and Paris and bronze in Rio. Larson also won a world championship title, multiple Volleyball Nations League and club world championship crowns.
