Michigan State University Basketball Recruiting: Spartans targeting 2027’s best at multiple positions

We are still months away from the 2026-27 basketball season. Tom Izzo has put together a roster for the upcoming season that is prepared to compete in the Big Ten, but he has also started putting together an impressive list of prospects for the 2027 class.
Most recently, the Spartans have made offers to points guards Jaxson Davis and Joshua Tyson.
Davis, a four-star recruit out of Kansas, is ranked as the top player in the state and No. 38 in the nation, according to 247Sports. Izzo and staff have been in on Davis for a while now and officially made an offer on July 4. He currently holds other offers from elite programs such as Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Purdue, and more.
It is clear that Izzo wants to continue the trend of success in the backcourt at Michigan State. Before Davis was offered, the Spartans sent one out to Tyson, who is also a four-star prospect.
Tyson is a product of Ohio but recently transferred to powerhouse La Lumiere School in Indiana. He is currently ranked as the No. 4 player in the state and 59th overall in the nation.
At La Lumiere, Tyson will join East Lansing native Kingston Thomas. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard was the first 2027 offer made by Izzo back in September. Thomas was ranked as the top player in Michigan before deciding to transfer. The four-star is the son of David Thomas, who was part of Michigan State’s national title team in 2000.
While making multiple offers in the backcourt, Izzo also set his sights on the center position. Jaydn Jenkins announced that he received an offer from Michigan State on June 28.
Jenkins is a highly-sought after big man in the 2027 class. The Spartans were his 19th offer, which includes the likes of Georgia, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, Villanova, Mississippi State, and Pitt.
Jenkins is currently ranked as the top player in Pennsylvania out of Archbishop Wood. He is also slated as the No. 6 center in the nation and 45th-ranked player overall.
