After 17 goals and three assists in 21 2. Bundesliga appearances in 2025/26, Magdeburg have extended the contract of strike sensation Mateusz Żukowski through to 2029.
What makes the Pole’s goalscoring record last term even more impressive is that he started out as a right-back, earning one appearance for Scottish side Rangers, before representing Lech Poznań and Śląsk Wrocław before his move to Magdeburg in September 2025.
“Mateusz has undergone impressive development in recent months and has quickly become a key figure in our team,” expressed Sporting Director Peer Jaekel. “After his injury, he fought his way back with great determination, demonstrating precisely the qualities we need in attack at Magdeburg: assertiveness, finishing ability, and the willingness to take responsibility.”
Attracting attention from European clubs, Żukowski is delighted with his new contract. “I’m incredibly happy to continue my journey at Magdeburg,” he told the club’s official website.
“The discussions with the management were crucial for me. It was important to know what direction the club wants to take in the future and what role I’m meant to play in it. In the end, the discussions showed me that we share the same vision and can achieve a lot together. I also feel very comfortable within the team. We have a fantastic team and a strong sense of unity.”
