Manchester City defender Ouahabi to join Chicago Stars

Manchester City defender Leila Ouahabi has agreed to join National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club Chicago Stars on a free transfer.
The American outfit confirmed the deal via a post on their official club website this afternoon.
The 33-year-old Catalan defender will officially complete the move when her contract with Manchester City expires on 30 June 2026. Ouahabi has agreed a three-year deal with Chicago Stars.
Ouahabi joined Manchester City from FC Barcelona in summer 2022. She went on to make 106 appearances for The Cityzens in all competitions. The defender won a Barclays Women’s Super League and Adobe Women’s FA Cup double with Manchester City this season.
Manchester City confirmed the player’s departure last month and it has now been confirmed that Ouahabi is going Stateside.
After agreeing to join Chicago Stars, Ouahabi said “I’m very excited to join the Chicago Stars. This is a new challenge in my career, and I can’t wait to meet my teammates and start playing.
“I look forward to bringing my soccer knowledge and experience to the team, and I want to give the best version of me and help my team do the same. Chicago is building a great project, and I think this is the right place to be to compete at my best.”
Ouahabi will represent Chicago Stars until the end of the 2028 NWSL season.
