Regarded as one of the most exciting young players in American tennis, Lee has been making plenty of waves at the junior level in recent years. The 16-year-old made his junior Grand Slam debut at the 2026 Wimbledon Championships and enjoyed a successful run that culminated in his winning the junior boys’ singles title.
Lee triumphed over the son of tennis legend Lleyton Hewitt in a thrilling final on Sunday. Hewitt won the first set 6-4, but Lee came from behind and stormed back to win the second set. Hewitt took the lead in the deciding set by going a break up. But Lee was not to be denied, as he broke Hewitt’s serve twice at the crucial juncture of the match to take the win.
With his triumph, Lee became the first qualifier to win the boys’ singles title at Wimbledon since Noah Rubin in 2014. He also became the first American to win the boys’ singles title at the All England Club since Samir Banerjee in 2021.
Afterward, Lee thanked the people around him who had supported him on his journey.
“CHAMP. This one means a lot. Just want to say thank you to everyone that’s been by my side, especially this past year,” Lee wrote on Instagram.
The Florida native received a congratulatory message from Jovic, another talented American who is enjoying a promising year on the WTA Tour.
“Looks like those yoga sessions on a Sunday paid OFFF,” Jovic wrote in the comments, before adding, “Making me tear up.”
“Yeaaaaa,” Lee wrote in response to Jovic.
A two-time junior Grand Slam winner in doubles, Jovic has established herself as one of the top young stars in American tennis. The 18-year-old made the quarterfinals of the Australian Open earlier this year and is ranked 16th in the WTA rankings with a win-loss record of 29-14 in 2026.
Jovic once again showcased her talent at the Wimbledon Championships, but her run ended with a three-set loss against compatriot Jessica Pegula in the fourth round. She will now have her sights on continuing her impressive breakout year in women’s tennis during the North American hardcourt swing.
