Lamar Jackson’s next milestone will rewrite the Ravens record book

Records are funny in their own way. They spark debates across generations of Baltimore Ravens fans. They give one era bragging rights over another. Most importantly, they preserve the accomplishments of the players who helped build a franchise. Eventually, however, every record becomes vulnerable. That’s the beauty of sports. Records are made to be broken, as they say, and as the Ravens prepare for another season with Lamar Jackson under center, one of the organization’s most recognizable offensive records could soon belong to the two-time MVP.

Ravens.com Editorial associate Quentin Corpuel recently highlighted several franchise marks that could fall during the 2026 season. All are intriguing, but perhaps none carries more significance than Joe Flacco’s franchise passing touchdown record.

Lamar Jackson is closing in on Joe Flacco

Flacco’s place in Ravens history is secure. He helped deliver the franchise’s second Super Bowl championship and finished his Baltimore career with 212 regular-season touchdown passes, a record that has stood since his departure.

Jackson now sits just 26 touchdown passes shy of eclipsing that mark. It’s an achievable number for a quarterback who has thrown at least 26 touchdown passes during three different NFL seasons. He most recently surpassed that total in 2024, when he established a career high with 41 scoring throws. Assuming good health, the odds certainly favor Jackson becoming the Ravens’ new all-time leader before the season concludes. It would be another chapter in a legendary career. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of Jackson’s pursuit is that he’s rewriting the Ravens’ record book while doing so in his own unique way.

Unlike Flacco, whose legacy was built largely through his arm and unforgettable postseason run, Jackson has transformed Baltimore’s offense with an unprecedented blend of passing efficiency and dynamic rushing ability. He’s already established himself as one of the greatest dual-threat quarterbacks in NFL history while collecting two MVP awards and leading the Ravens to sustained success.

A Super Bowl victory would be a nice feather in his cap.

Breaking Flacco’s passing touchdown record wouldn’t diminish what the former Super Bowl MVP accomplished. If anything, it would serve as another reminder that the Ravens have been fortunate enough to watch two franchise quarterbacks define different eras of Baltimore football.

Again, records are made to be broken, but only by players worthy of holding them. If Jackson reaches 213 touchdown passes this season, he’ll add another milestone to a resume that already places him among the greatest players the Ravens have ever produced. Somewhere, fans are wagering on the two-time MVP affectionately known as ‘Action Jackson’.
