The Los Angeles Lakers have made one of several offseason signings official.

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Lakers announced that a 6-foot-5 former New York Knicks rising star guard is joining the fold for the 2026-27 season and beyond.

“The Los Angeles Lakers have signed guard Quentin Grimes,” the franchise announced in a press release. “Grimes (6’5”, 207) appeared in 75 games (19 starts) for Philadelphia (76ers) during the 2025-26 season, averaging 13.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in 29.4 minutes.”

“The Texas native scored in double figures 53 times, including 15 games with 20 or more points. He also connected on at least three 3-pointers in 20 games. Defensively, Grimes recorded multiple steals in 15 games and blocked at least one shot in 20 contests.”

Grimes, who appeared to be well on his way toward becoming a standout contributor with the Knicks following his impressive 2022-23 campaign with the franchise before getting traded the following year, is a solid three-and-D addition for the Lakers.

While the Houston product didn’t shoot the ball well from three with the 76ers last season (33.4%), he’s only a year removed from a season in which he shot 38.5 from beyond the arc on a high volume of attempts (441).

Considering Grimes has also proven his worth as an energetic perimeter defender in the big leagues, the Lakers have every reason to be optimistic about the signing.
