Igor Milicic isn’t the only contributor to sign a training camp deal with the New York Knicks and get waived shortly after.
Per the Knicks’ official PR X/Twitter account, New York cut ties with a 7-foot ex-Milwaukee Bucks NBA Cup champion 24 hours after signing him.
“Knicks waive Liam Robbins,” the transaction-based account reported at 7:18 p.m. on Wednesday, which is 24 hours after they stated they had signed the Vanderbilt product to an Exhibit 10 deal.
Robbins began his professional career with the New Orleans Pelicans after failing to get his name called during the 2023 NBA Draft. Unfortunately for the former SEC Player of the Year, he didn’t make New Orleans’ opening-night roster, resulting in him joining the franchise’s G League affiliate, the Birmingham Squadron.
After an injury-riddled 2023-24 campaign, Robbins inked a deal with the Bucks, averaging 0.7 points and 0.9 rebounds per game during his lone campaign with the 2021 NBA champions. The 27-year-old competed with the Rip City Remix (Portland Trail Blazers’ G League affiliate) this past season, averaging 9.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per game while shooting 49.3% from the field in 10 appearances.
Needless to say, Robbins is still a work in progress, but another season in the NBA’s developmental league (Westchester Knicks) could do wonders for the unseasoned big man.
