Kent State score at Western Michigan. Broncos pull away from Golden Flashes

Western Michigan piled up 466 yards and averaged 7.1 yards en route to a 38-7 win over visiting Kent State in a Mid-American Conference game Saturday, Oct. 10.
The loss spoiled a huge game by KSU sophomore wide receiver Wayne Harris, who caught 11 passes for 164 yards.
The Golden Flashes (2-4, 1-2) trailed just 14-7 when quarterback Dru DeShields threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Brendyn Smith with 1:55 left in the second quarter. But Broc Lowry’s 28-yard TD pass to Baylin Brooks with 33 seconds left in the half put the Broncos (4-2, 2-0) back in control.
Western Michigan then outscored Kent State 17-0 in the second half to win going away.
DeShields finished 19-of-35 passing for 223 yards with one touchdown and one interception. But he was also sacked five times and was held to minus-6 yards on 10 carries. Mason King led the Flashes with 36 yards on 13 carries.
Lowry completed 18 of 26 passes for 257 yards and three TDs for Western Michigan. Jalen Buckley ran for a game-high 105 yards on 18 carries.
The Flashes travel to Tampa, Fla., to play South Florida on Oct. 17.
