Jayden Wilkins, son of ex-NBAer Damien, announces Newport HS transfer

Jayden Wilkins, son of former NBA player Damien Wilkins, announced via Instagram that he intends to play for Newport High School.

Wilkins has played for Overtime Elite in Atlanta and Southeastern Prep in Orlando.

Damien Wilkins played parts of 10 NBA seasons for Seattle/Oklahoma City, Minnesota, Philadelphia, Detroit, Atlanta and Indiana. His father is former NBA guard Gerald Wilkins, and his uncle is Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins.

Damien replied to a post from @newportwildcats.hoops that read, “IT’S OFFICIAL! Welcome Jayden Wilkins To Newport.”

Taylen Kinney, a 5-star recruit and former Newport basketball star, committed to Kansas in September 2025. Kinney transferred to Overtime Elite in August 2024 after three varsity seasons at Newport.
