Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen had a bizarre way to express how much belief he has in Jags wide receiver Parker Washington.
While talking to reporters on Tuesday, the 40-year-old Coen jokingly said that Washington has become the go-to person on his phone.
“Parker is now my emergency contact. That’s how much I trust him. My wife thought it was a little weird but she’s okay with it,” Coen said, via Ian Hartitz of Rotowire.

Washington is entering his fourth season in the league, so he definitely has enough experience to make a big leap — again.
After recording only 522 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 48 receptions and 72 targets through 26 games in his first two seasons in the league, the former Penn State Nittany Lions star wideout posted 847 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 58 catches and 95 targets across 16 games (seven starts) in 2025 — also Coen’s first year as the Jaguars’ head coach.
What Coen said about Washington must also be music to the ears of fantasy football managers, who have drafted (or are planning to target) the 24-year-old wide receiver. At the same time, Jacksonville has plenty of other talented players in the wide receiver room, including Brian Thomas, Jakobi Meyers and Travis Hunter.
Still, Washington appears to be a player on the rise, as he’s seemingly gotten the trust of Trevor Lawrence, with John Shipley of Sports Illustrated reporting that the wideout has “routinely been the top target” of the quarterback early on in Jaguars training camp.
The 2026 season could be the best yet of Washington in the pros.
