How Mississippi State transfer pitcher Delainey Everett impacts Oklahoma State softball

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State softball addressed one of its biggest needs in the transfer portal with a player who recently had a clutch performance in the state.
Mississippi State left-handed pitcher Delainey Everett committed to the Cowgirls on Friday, adding a veteran presence to a young OSU pitching staff. Her commitment comes nearly a month after Everett shut down the potent OU offense in the decisive game of the Norman Super Regional.
Her three-hit shutout of the Sooners clinched Mississippi State’s spot in the Women’s College World Series.

The Cowgirls graduated ace Ruby Meylan, as well as regularly used reserve RyLee Crandall, leaving the pitching staff full of freshmen and sophomores for the 2027 season.
But coach Kenny Gajewski added valuable experience in a player who has pitched in 51 games over her three-year career.
Three freshmen saw time in the circle for OSU this past season in Preslee Downing, Madison Hoffman and Makala Smith. But Downing entered the transfer portal earlier this month and Hoffman looks more likely destined for a spot in the batting order because of the natural power she showed late in the season.
OSU signed two highly regarded high school prospects in Kennedy Allen from Chandler and Peyton May from Corona, California.
Gajewski could also continue to pursue transfer portal prospects to boost the experience level of the pitching staff.
