Gabriel Martinelli starts for Brazil against Norway in the round of 16 at the World Cup

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti is going with Gabriel Martinelli to replace injured midfielder Lucas Paquetá for the team’s round of 16 match against Norway on Sunday.

Martinelli scored the go-ahead goal late in stoppage time against Japan in the round of 32 on Monday after entering as a substitute in the 66th minute. Paquetá limped off at halftime of that game with a hamstring injury.

Norway got defender Julian Ryerson back after he missed the past two games from an injury he sustained against Senegal at the Meadowlands in group play on June 22. Marcus Pederson, who replaced Ryerson and scored that day, was not available for Norway against Brazil because he was not feeling well, coach Ståle Solbakken said.
