Antwerp are experiencing a period of transition. Key players have seen their contracts come to an end this summer and many are opting to depart to pastures new. One player, according to Het Nieuwsblad, is set to stay. Christopher Scott had been a bit part player since joining from Bayern Munich a few years ago, but the attacking midfielder had a strong season in the final year of his contract and appears ready to sign a new deal with Antwerp.

It is quite a turnaround for the former Bayern Munich youngster. Last summer, Antwerp had tired to sell Scott but could not find him a new club. The 24-year-old remained with Antwerp and went on to play 36 games with seven goals and two assists, the best of his career so far. The last time he scored seven goals in a season was when playing for the Bayern Munich second team in the regional leagues of German football in 2021/2022.

Keeping Scott is certainly important for Antwerp as they seek to replenish a squad that has lost the likes of striker Vincent Janssen and winger Gyrano Kerk, both of whom were important players for the side last season.
