Five first team players will be leaving Charlton Athletic at the end of this month when their contracts expire.

The Addicks announced their end of season released list via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

It has been revealed that Emma Bissell, Frankie Finlayson, Karin Muya, Gracie Pearse and Amalie Thestrup will all be moving on this summer.

Bissell, Muya, Pearse and Thestrup contributed 10 league goals between them as Charlton Athletic claimed a long-awaited promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League. Bissell was the club’s third-highest performer when it came to goals and assists in 2025/2026.

Youngster Finlayson is a product of the Charlton Athletic academy system and she will be looking for an opportunity for regular minutes in the coming seasons.

After Charlton Athletic’s summer departures were confirmed, head coach Karen Hills said “Karin has been an unbelievable servant for us. First and foremost, she is a lovely person who has worked really hard for the team. She has scored some really important goals for us this season, and her willingness to take players on makes her an exciting player. I wish her all the very best in her future.

“[Amalie] is an experienced player, which is why we brought her in. Someone who leads the line really well, someone who has bags of experience on and off the pitch. Her contributions have been second to none this season, scoring some important goals, leading the line so well and really helping and encouraging the younger players around her. Amalie is an unbelievable person, is a great character to have and has had a huge impact on not only me, but the staff and her teammates. I wish her all the very best.

“Emma Bissell is a lovely person with so much to offer in terms of her finishing. She has scored some really, really important goals, including the two goals against Nottingham Forest in December after she came on. The girl has an unbelievable eye for goal and has worked so, so hard for her moments with Charlton.

“For me, I am really pleased that I had the privilege to work with Emma. I know Emma will go on to do some good things within women’s football, and I wish her all the very best because she has been another one in the last 18 months who has pushed us to the next level to be able to drive the ambition of being successful in the WSL.

“Gracie, who came to us on loan, was very patient for her chances to play. She is another person who has driven standards for not only herself but her teammates. She is a very versatile player who has helped the team in different positions this season and last season. She has been really important to us in completing this year’s campaign with the promotion spot, and I wish her all the very best in her next adventure.

“For Frankie, good luck with your next adventure. She has been a young, up-and-coming, talented player who has progressed from the PGA to our first team squad. She has significantly contributed to the standards this year in terms of her standards, training and work ethic. Her attitude has been excellent throughout the whole season, and wishing her all the best for her future development.”

Charlton Athletic remain in contract negotiations with Katie Bradley, Lucy Fitzgerald, Carla Humphrey, Gillian Kenney, Ellie Mason, Elisha N’Dow, Charlotte Newsham, Anna Pedersen and Mia Ross while Jodie Hutton, Lucia Lobato, Katie Lockwood, Mary McAteer, Gloria Siber, Kiera Skeels, Lizzie Waldie and Sophie Whitehouse are all under contract for 2026/2027.
