Eredivisie players at the 2026 World Cup: Goalkeepers

The 2026 World Cup kicks off this week and there will be plenty of Eredivisie talent on show over the coming weeks. We are going to look at all the players from the Dutch top flight making their way over to the World Cup, starting with the two goalkeepers.

Matej Kovar – Czechia

Czech goalkeeper Matej Kovar is one of two shot stoppers from the Eredivisie heading to the World Cup this summer. The 26-year-old kept seven clean sheets in 31 Eredivisie games for the champions PSV this season in his first campaign since joining from Bayer Leverkusen. The former Manchester United academy goalkeeper spent time at Swindon and Burton before leaving the Red Devils in 2023 to join Leverkusen. In two seasons in the Bundesliga Kovar played 32 games, a number he already surpassed for PSV this season with 44 in all competitions. Kovar played the full 90 minutes in the Czech’s friendly victory over Guatemala. He will be battling it out with Braga’s Lukas Hornicek for the starting spot at the World Cup. Kovar has won 20 caps for the Czech national team during his career.

Tyrick Bodak – Curacao

Bodak joins former Eredivisie goalkeeper Eloy Room and Venlo goalkeeper Trevor Doornbusch at the World Cup for debutants Curacao. The 24-year-old Bodak had to watch on from the bench with his club preferring the excellent Ronald Koeman Jr in goal as they avoided relegation from the Eredivisie this season. Room will be the preferred option in goal given his experience, with Bodak in reserve alongside Doornbusch in case of injury.
