Dodgers Select Two Players on Day 1 of 2026 MLB Draft

The Los Angeles Dodgers had two picks on Day 1 of the 2026 MLB Draft on Saturday.
With the No. 40 overall pick in the first round of the draft, the Dodgers selected shortstop Bo Lowrance from Christ Church Episcopal High School in South Carolina. Lowrance was ranked as the No. 21 overall prospect by MLB ahead of the draft.
Lowrance previously committed to Virginia and is the program’s top-ranked recruit. However, it is expected Lowrance will forgo a college and head straight into his professional career with the Dodgers.
With the No. 132 pick in the fourth round of the draft, Los Angeles selected Florida right-handed pitcher Russell Sandefer. He was the No. 177 overall prospect going into the draft.
Sandefer was a 2026 NCAA Gainsville Regional All-Tournament Team honoree as a junior with the Gators this season. He finished the season with a 3-2 record and 4.42 ERA across 19 games.
Sandefer transferred to Florida ahead of the 2026 season after spending the first two years of his career at Division II St. Leo and Central Florida.

The Dodgers have one pick in every round from the seventh round to the 20th.
Day 2 of the draft is on Sunday, and Los Angeles will get to round out its draft class of 2026.
