Do Jaguars have enough salary cap space to make free agent signing?

Following Brenton Strange’s three-year extension, how much salary cap space do the Jacksonville Jaguars have for the remainder of the 2026 NFL season?
As a result of the extension, Strange’s cap hit for the 2026 season increased by $1.385 million, which leaves the Jaguars with $8.023 million in available cap space. Compared to the rest of the NFL, only four teams have less space, according to Over the Cap.
Jacksonville has ranked near the bottom in available cap space for much of the offseason. This is, in part, a product of the team absorbing so much dead cap in 2026 after moving on from a number of players last offseason.

Although the Jaguars have $8-plus million in available cap space, not all of that can be spent right now. Jacksonville will need in-season reserves in the event roster additions need to be made at that time.
There are also still additional expenses — although likely not significant ones — that cap space could be needed for, including weekly practice squad elevations and available funds to pay out any bonuses earned by players.
That said, it’s not as if a signing at this stage of the offseason is going to break the bank either. The veteran minimum for 2026 is $1.3 million.
So the Jaguars do have some flexibility to still tweak the roster, but not a ton. If there is one position for GM James Gladstone to consider adding to, it may be pass rusher.
