Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz wants his team to follow Morocco into the World Cup last 16 on Friday against Colombia.
Nine of the 10 African teams at the tournament reached the knock-outs but they have now been decimated.
Only the 2022 semi-finalists Morocco are through so far while South Africa, Senegal, Democratic Republic of Congo and Ivory Coast have been eliminated.
Algeria play later on Thursday, and Egypt and Cape Verde on Friday before Ghana play the last match against Colombia.
“That is another challenge for the game. We want to advance as the second African team,” the 73-year-old Queiroz said.
“The World Cup really starts now. Those are games you want to be part of,” he added.
Queiroz is at his fifth World Cup after previous participations with Portugal and Iran, and he won’t rule out returning in 2030.
“Yes, I have that in my mind. I wake up every morning and want to become a better coach and a better person,” he said.
