Caitlin Clark chats with LeBron James, Tyrese Maxey after 76ers take down Pacers

INDIANAPOLIS – Fever star Caitlin Clark returned to Gainbridge Fieldhouse to take in her second game of the young season, and this time, it wasn’t just to root for the hometown Pacers. After the 76ers beat a hampered Pacers team 114-109 thanks to a dominant 39-21 fourth quarter, Clark went through the tunnel to enter the away locker room.

Clark has developed a relationship with NBA legend LeBron James, and she sat courtside as James played the Pacers for the first time in a Philadelphia 76ers uniform. She was also in Gainbridge Fieldhouse in March, when James played his last game as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers in the arena. Like Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton, Clark publicly made an unsuccessful pitch for LeBron to sign with Indiana this summer.

On her way inside the locker room, Clark interacted with two-time All-Star Tyrese Maxey, who led Philadelphia with 27 points Wednesday.

“I think that was my first time really meeting her,” Maxey said in the locker room. “Honestly, that’s just another person that I like to watch. She cold, she nice. Seeing her today was really cool. Sometimes you try not to fan out, but it was really cool seeing her. It’s her building; she plays here too. … So it’s good seeing her. She’s nice.”

James, who was the first overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft, previously made parallels to the start of his pro career with Clark’s (the first pick of the 2024 WNBA draft).

“I’m rooting for Caitlin because I’ve been in that seat before,” James, who was not available to the media after the game, said in 2024. “I’ve walked that road before. I hope she kills. I hope Aliyah Boston does amazing. I hope they do great.”
