Browns front office loses a top executive to the Vikings

In what ended up being very strange timing, the Minnesota Vikings fired their general manager, former Cleveland Browns executive Kweis Adofo-Mensah, almost a month after the 2025 NFL season ended. The Vikings then went through 2026 NFL free agency and the 2026 NFL draft with a temporary setup in their front office.

Over four months after firing Adofo-Mensah, and around the same time as their former GM took a role with the San Francisco 49ers, the Vikings hired former Seattle Seahawks executive Nolan Teasley to run their front office.

The hiring of Teasley led to a number of departures in Minnesota, opening up space for Teasley to bring in his own staff, including hiring the Browns VP of Research and Strategy, Andrew Healy:

As noted in Healy’s Sloan Sports Analytics bio, his role has changed during his decade in Cleveland:

For the last five years in that role, he has led the integration of data and advanced insights into all parts of football operations. He started with the Browns in 2016 as Senior Player Personnel Strategist, helping to develop methods for valuing players, game decisions, and draft assets. Before joining Cleveland, he wrote and created projection systems for Football Outsiders.

Previously, Healy was Professor of Economics at Loyola Marymount University, where he did research on the causes and consequences of underinvestment in natural disaster preparation. He has a Ph.D. in Economics from MIT.

Generally, NFL teams are permitted to block what would be considered lateral moves, especially when the new role does not have final say in personnel decisions. Healy’s role with the Vikings is likely seen as a promotion, and/or GM Andrew Berry allowed the move, unlike what the team has done with former DC Jim Schwartz.

The Browns Research & Strategy department has six others listed under Healy, including a “VP Research & Strategy” (Dave Giuliani) under Healy as “Vice President, Research & Strategy.” Nate Sterken is listed as the team’s “Lead Data Scientist” with four on staff as “Football Research Analysts.”
