The Milwaukee Brewers made a significant decision with one of their top outfield prospects on Tuesday.
According to Daniel Alvarez Montes of El Extra Base, the NL Central club has promoted Luis Lara from Triple-A.
Lara, 21, can play center or right field. He signed a seven-year, $31 million extension with the Brewers before ever stepping onto a Major League field.
In 78 Triple-A games this season, Lara is hitting .321/.432/.470 with nine home runs and 10 doubles.
Nine homers is a major increase for Lara, who hit just 10 homers in the minors before this season.
“A switch-hitter, Lara exhibits good contact rates from both sides, despite being much more swing-happy from the right, and he doesn’t beat himself much by expanding the zone,” Lara’s MLB Pipeline bio reads.
He’s also shown off impressive speed, stealing 24 bases in 31 attempts.

In the outfield, the Brewers have Jackson Chourio, Sal Frelick, and Garrett Mitchell. For now, Lara will serve as the fourth outfielder, unless an injury occurs.
Milwaukee is still waiting on the development of 19-year-old Jesus Made. The shortstop is the No. 1 prospect in baseball, as ranked by MLB Pipeline.
