Clemson football's 2027 recruiting class surges into top-10 rankings after recent haul

CLEMSON — Clemson football‘s 2027 recruiting class has surged up the 247Sports Composite rankings after the Tigers’ recent haul of commitments.

Clemson landed 12 commits from May 18 through June 1 with three- and four-star recruits committing before, during and after the Tigers’ big visit weekend on May 29.

Now, Dabo Swinney’s 2027 class is ranked No. 6 nationally (second-best in the ACC), according to the 247Sports Composite, with 19 commits. The Tigers have 12 four-star players and seven three stars.

Prior to this surge, Clemson ranked outside the 20s, putting the Tigers in jeopardy of finishing in the 20s for the third straight season. Two days before Clemson’s big visit weekend, the Tigers ranked No. 12 nationally.

Clemson picked up notable four-star recruits during its wave, including offensive linemen Luke Starcevic, JJ Brown, Elijah Morrison and Carter Jones; edge rushers Desmond Malpress and Santana Harvey; running back Gary Walker; wide receiver Jamarin Simmons; and safety Jarrell Chandler.

The Tigers also picked up three three-star pledges, including wide receiver Julian Cromartie and tight ends Carter Blackwell and Nicholas Pollack.

Can Clemson football’s 2027 recruiting class finish in top five?

The last time Clemson finished in the top five of recruiting rankings was in 2021 when the Tigers finished No. 5. That class featured former Clemson standouts, including linebacker Barrett Carter, running backs Will Shipley and Phil Mafah and cornerback Nate Wiggins.

Clemson could crack the top five for the first time in six years if players remain committed, and the Tigers land more commits.

During its big visit weekend, Clemson hosted other notable recruits, including four-star linebackers Roman Igwebuike and Sean Fox; four-star safeties Ta’Shawn Poole and Jayden Aparicio-Bailey; four-star offensive lineman Nate Carson; three-star defensive end JiQuan Rogers; and three-star cornerback Bryant Robinson.

These players could commit to Clemson at a later date, which would boost the Tigers’ position in rankings.

Will Clemson football suffer large number of decommitments again?

The Tigers have experienced a high number of decommitments over the last two cycles, losing seven players in 2025 and three in 2026.

Clemson has already suffered one decommitment in three-star safety Seth Williams.

The 2027 recruiting class is on track to snap this streak, but commits could have a change of heart before early signing day.
