The Cincinnati Bengals are switching up the lineup of speakers for their annual season-kickoff media luncheon, and owner Mike Brown won’t be conducting his annual roundtable with media members.
The media event, known as the Mock Turtle Soup Luncheon for the dish Brown has infamously served over the years, typically includes a question-and-answer session between Brown and media members. That won’t be the case for the July 27 event, which is only scheduled to see Brown present the Paul Brown Excellence in Coaching Award, according to the team’s invitation.
The significance of Brown not doing his usual question-and-answer session is that it’s typically the only media availability with the owner throughout the year.
The scheduled speakers for the event include Director of Player Personnel Duke Tobin, Head Coach Zac Taylor, Defensive Coordinator Al Golden, Offensive Coordinator Dan Pitcher and Special Teams Coordinator Darrin Simmons.
Brown remained a fixture this past spring during organized team activities for the Bengals.
The team is scheduled to begin training camp July 29 with its preseason opener scheduled for Aug. 13 against the Detroit Lions at Paycor Stadium (7 p.m.).
