Barcelona Atletic confirmed the arrival of two new players on Thursday. Teenage defender Javi Castro was the first to be announced, arriving from Real Mallorca. The defender has signed a two-year deal and will bolster Juliano Belletti’s backline.

Here’s the club’s official statement:

“Barcelona and RCD Mallorca have reached an agreement for the incorporation of defender Javi Castro to Barça Atlètic. The footballer, 19 years old and born in 2007, signs a contract until June 30, 2028 and will be part of the Blaugrana reserve team for the next two seasons.

“Castro arrives at Barça after having played this past season on loan in the youth Division of Honor of CF Damm. Throughout the course he has continued his progression, consolidating himself as a defender with solidity, good positioning and the ability to compete at the highest level.”

Barca then followed that up by confirming the arrival of striker Ignasi Quer on a free transfer from CE L’Hospitalet. The 22-year-old is coming off the back of a season where he scored 20 goals and has also signed on until 2028.

There may be further additions this summer after Belletti waved goodbye to five players last month. Belletti’s side start their season on July 20th when the players return for pre-season.
