Arizona Cardinals training camp roster preview: WR Devin Duvernay

The Arizona Cardinals report to training camp on July 22 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team.
Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2025, questions they face and their roster outlook.
Here is receiver Devin Duvernay.
Devin Duvernay background, 2025 season
Duvernay is entering his seventh NFL season and his first with the Cardinals. He was drafted in the third round in 2020 by the Baltimore Ravens, and he became one of the top return specialists in the league, getting selected to the Pro Bowl twice and being named a first-team All-Pro in 2021.
After four seasons In Baltimore, he spent a season in Jacksonville and one with the Chicago Bears. He had as many as 37 catches for 407 yards in 2022 but has only had 18 receptions over the last three seasons.
In 2025, he played 40 offensive snaps and 209 no special teams. He had two receptions for 26 yards. In the return game, he averaged 26.7 yards per kick return and 11.0 yards per punt return.
Devin Duvernay contract details, cap hit
Duvernay signed a one-year, $2.35 million contract in the offseason. He was paid a $300,000 signing bonus $250,000 of his more than $1.2 million salary is guaranteed. He has possible roster bonuses up to $255,000. He also has a $500,000 other bonus. His cap hit is scheduled to be $2.35 million.
Questions he faces, 2026 roster outlook
Duvernay is not a lock for the final roster, but he would seem like a favorite because of his skills in the return game and role on special teams. He projects right now as the Cardinals’ primary return guy on punts and kickoffs.
He hasn’t been an elite returner since 2021. Last season, he was basically the same as Greg Dortch, who left in free agency. The difference is that Duvernay doesn’t have the offensive upside anymore.
Can he do anything offensively at this point in his career, or is he solely a special teams player now?
