The Los Angeles Angels lost right-handed reliever Sam Bachman on the injured list Wednesday with right forearm radial nerve inflammation.
The Angels completely overhauled their bullpen at the trade deadline Monday, shipping out Brent Suter, Ryan Zeferjahn and Kirby Yates in addition to Chase Silseth, who they traded to the Texas Rangers a week ago. They made a huge roster move on Tuesday to replenish their bullpen, recalling Ryan Johnson, selecting the contracts of Shaun Anderson and Blake Weiman and reinstating Ben Joyce from the injured list.
Bachman survived the deadline, but his injury will likely keep him out for at least a couple of weeks. To replace Bachman, the Angels recalled left-hander Tayler Saucedo.

Bachman has been on the Angels’ roster all season, posting a 4.14 ERA through 41 appearances on the year. He has 46 strikeouts in 45.2 innings pitched, leading the team in holds with 17—more than double the total of any player on the roster. He has struggled in save situations, though, blowing three of his four opportunities.
A first-round draft pick in 2021, Bachman has played in the Angels’ bullpen in parts of three seasons since 2023. He has a career 4.45 ERA through 75 appearances in MLB, establishing his spot in the bullpen during 2025 despite an undesirable 6.20 ERA through 23 appearances.
Who is Tayler Saucedo?
Saucedo, 33, has been with the Angels since the winter, signing a minor league deal in Dec. 2025. He’s gone between MLB and Triple-A several times this year, making six appearances for the big-league club on the year.
He’s thrown 3.1 innings across those six appearances, striking out six batters while allowing two earned runs for a 5.40 ERA.
Saucedo’s last MLB appearance came July 7 against the Texas Rangers, where he blew his only save opportunity of the season in an 8-3 loss.
The Angels have a noticeable lack of left-handed arms in the bullpen, with the only other southpaw being Samy Natera Jr., so Saucedo is likely to step into a bigger role for the remainder of the season. His next opportunity to pitch for the Halos comes Wednesday, when they take on the Baltimore Orioles for the second game of a three-game series. That game begins at 3:35 p.m. PT.
