Alabama football has its first defensive back in the 2027 recruiting class.
Darrius White, a three-star defensive back from Fairburn, Georgia, announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide Sunday, June 21, choosing Alabama over programs such as NC State, Georgia Tech and Cincinnati.
White is the ninth commit in Alabama’s 2027 recruiting class and is the second Georgia native, joining running back Nigel Newkirk.
White is the No. 451 prospect and the No. 44 cornerback in the 2027 class per 247Sports’ composite rankings. He was originally set to commit on July 4.

White matches the frame of a normal Alabama defensive back in this new era of the Crimson Tide.
He stands at 6-foot-3, 185 pounds, a larger target for a boundary corner similar to players like Jorden Edmonds and Dijon Lee Jr.
In Maurice Linguist’s defensive backfield, larger cornerbacks force quarterbacks into tighter and tighter throw windows with wide receivers, giving players like Lee, Edmonds and White an advantage in coverage.
Alabama is developing a track record for developing long, agile cornerbacks, and White has the chance to be next in line.
