Nebraska quarterback commit Trae Taylor earns fifth recruiting star

Nebraska quarterback commit has earned his fifth recruiting star. Trae Taylor has also been ranked as the No. 1 quarterback in the class of 2027 according to 247Sports.

In 11 games last season for Carmel Catholic (IL), Taylor threw 3,571 yards, 38 touchdowns, and three interceptions. He also ran 77 times for 633 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Taylor transferred to Millard South (NE) this offseason and will join a team that went 12-1 this past season and won back-to-back Class A State championships. He is expected to take over as the starting quarterback, replacing Jett Thomalla, who signed with Alabama.

It’s been a successful month for Taylor, who was recently named the Rivals MVP of the Elite 11 Finals (subscription required). Taylor impressed the scouts in Los Angeles with strong performances throughout the three-day event.

The recent success has attracted new suitors vying for the prospect. Ohio State recently expressed interest in Taylor, who has remained firm in his commitment to Nebraska.

The 2026 Elite 11 MVP will be crowded on June 26th at Nike’s Philip H. Knight Campus in Beaverton, Oregon. This is Nebraska’s first five-star recruit since quarterback Dylan Raiola committed to the class for 2024.
