Nashville Predators hire Rob Blake as executive vice president of hockey operations

The Nashville Predators have hired Rob Blake as executive vice president of hockey operations, the team announced on June 5.
Blake will work alongside new president of hockey operations and general manager Chris MacFarland, who was hired on June 2, in “all areas of the hockey operations department, including team and staff development, long- and short-term strategies, free agency, player recruitment, drafting and more.”
Blake, 56, spent 12 seasons in the Los Angeles Kings front office, where he served as assistant general manager (2013-2017) and vice president of hockey operations and general manager (2017-2025). Blake left the Kings after the 2025 season, after which Los Angeles hired Ken Holland.
Blake was a long-time defenseman and captain in the NHL, playing 1,270 games for the Kings, Colorado Avalanche and San Jose Sharks between 1989 and 2010. He won the Norris Trophy in 1998 and the Stanley Cup with the Avalanche in 2001.
