Chargers vs. Chiefs: 4 bold predictions for Week 6 matchup

The Chargers are still searching for their first win of the season as they head into Week 6.

Los Angeles is in a position few people could have predicted they’d be in at any point in the season. Nonetheless, they’re here, searching for their first win of 2026.

The Chargers haven’t won since December 2025, and their chances of doing so this Sunday against the Chiefs look slim.

Here are four bold predictions in Week 6 against the Chiefs.

Kimani Vidal records 75+ rushing yards and finds the endzone again

Vidal is coming off his most productive game of the season, leading in yards and average per carry with 7.1 (among running backs). The Chargers may give him a much larger workload after his explosive performance. Although he’s still competing with Omarion Hampton and Keaton Mitchell for touches, he could get another big play, making it harder for Mike McDaniel to keep him on the sideline.

Akheem Mesidor records two sacks

Mesidor is finding his groove. The Chargers rookie first-round pick faces a tall task, as the Chiefs have allowed only six sacks in four games. Nonetheless, Mesidor has the tools and is playing stellar to live up to the billing.

Chargers force 2 turnovers on Patrick Mahomes

Mahomes is off to a great start to the season, looking more like the quarterback we saw in the early 2020s. Mahomes has turned the ball over only twice this season; however, the Chargers are stellar at forcing quarterback turnovers. They did so in Week 3 against a more dynamic quarterback, Josh Allen, and given how the defense is playing, they could do the same with Mahomes via an interception or fumble.

The Chargers score 23+ points but still lose

The Chargers will score the most points they have all season; however, it will still end in a loss. Los Angeles is averaging 16.8 points per game (30th) and 164.6 passing yards per game (30th). I believe they will play slightly above their averages, but at the end of the day, it won’t be enough against one of the league’s best teams.
