Head coach Dan Campbell watched as his Detroit Lions picked up a huge win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 5. Detroit walked into Arizona and punched the Cardinals in the mouth offensively. They picked up a big 45-21 win, and they did so while playing with heavy hearts.
Dan Miller, the radio voice of the Lions, announced that his wife had passed away before the game. Miller is a beloved figure in the Detroit sports scene. He has been the radio voice for Detroit since 2005. After the team’s win over the Cardinals, Campbell announced that Miller would receive one of the game balls.
“It was hard to hear what they went through,” Campbell said through tears, via Awful Announcing. “It’s been a tough road for Dan. It’s for him. Salt of the earth, man. Dan is salt of the earth. Dan is salt of the earth. I know that this has been hard. But now I know somebody’s at peace. We love you, Dan. Appreciate you.”

The Lions put on a show in Arizona. Quarterback Jared Goff completed 19 passes for 271 yards and three touchdowns. He added a rushing touchdown to his ledger, as well. Detroit’s defense, much maligned for its struggles entering this contest, stood tall against the Cardinals.
Detroit picked up a win when it needed it. They are now 3-2 heading into their bye week in Week 6. They were certainly focused on Sunday, but their thoughts were also with Miller. ClutchPoints extends its condolences to Miller and his family during this troubling time.
